So at least once each year, we share the reason that The Oaks Private School was started, some of our goals and mission, and other points of information that will help you in your path for educating at home. THE OAKS PRIVATE SCHOOL Mission: The Oaks Private School was established as a private, Christian school committed to providing a biblically-based education to young people in primary and secondary grade levels. Our mission is to partner with Christian parents in educating their children to think and act biblically and to pursue academic excellence in joyful submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. | DIPLOMA OPTIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION Honors-College Preparatory Diploma The Honors-College Preparatory Diploma is designed for those students possessing outstanding academic skills in most areas. The student who earns this diploma will be ready to attend top-ranking colleges and universities. The pursuit of this diploma indicates a very high level of ambition and a desire for a high level of academic achievement. 1. Requires 28 credits, 8 of which must be Honors, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement or higher.2. Requires a GPA no less than 3.5 GPA3. Requires a score at or above 1290 on the SAT or 29 on the ACT. College Preparatory Diploma The College-Preparatory Diploma is designed for the student who has a background of above average achievement. This diploma is recommended for the student who desires a college education in separation for a professional career. It is accepted at most colleges and universities. 1. Requires 26 credits, 6 of which must be Honors, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement or higher2. Requires a GPA no less than 3.0 GPA3. Requires a minimum score of 1170 on the SAT or a 26 on the ACT. Standard Diploma The Standard Diploma is aligned with the Florida Department of Education requirements for graduation. This diploma is accepted at most colleges and universities. World language is not required for this program although it is recommended if the student plans to attend college. Students who are unsure about college or career future may prefer to pursue this Standard Diploma. 1. Requires 24 credits to earn this diploma2. Requires a GPA no less than 2.0 GPA3. Take the SAT or ACT or submit Letter of ExceptionCareer/Vocational Diploma The Vocational Diploma is designed for the student who seeks to pursue a career choice that requires preparation but not necessarily a college degree. These students usually show strong skills in creative endeavors, enjoy working with their hands, find accomplishment and gratification in working on a job from beginning to end. | AGREEMENTS BETWEEN PARENTS AND TOPS As we begin the new school year, please read these simple agreements that are part of the Parent Agreement each family signed as they enrolled their students. Keeping these points in mind will help you and TOPS have a successful and productive year for your student.Read the School Handbook found on the school website: www.theoaksprivateschool.com.If using printed curriculum, acquire a minimum of one-half year’s curriculum at enrollment and ensure sufficient curriculum is available to the student throughout the school year.Maintain current address, telephone, email, and credit/debit card information at school office.Check emails at least twice a week for important updates.Schedule a minimum of 180 school days per year consisting of the appropriate number of hours per day according to grade level.Provide adult supervision when the student is doing school work, both for online and printed.Do not allow passing scores below 70% on lessons, quizzes, and tests. Content must be mastered before proceeding.Submit End-of-Term Reports, attendance, and work samples by due dates.(1st Term – Dec 10; 2nd Term – March 10; 3rd Term – June 10; 4th Term – Aug 10)Register for mandatory annual assessment testing for grades 3 thru 12 each spring – available testing dates will be announced.
