Dear TOPS Families,
We want you to know that the staff of The Oaks Private School is thinking of each and every one of our students and families as we all face the threat of the corona virus. We pray that you are safe physically and emotionally and are taking the recommended precautions for staying healthy.
We have not been notified of any of our families that have been diagnosed with the virus, thank the Lord!
With so many isolations and schools closed around the world, it comes to mind how very blessed all the TOPS families are to be homeschooling. Our school does not have to close to be safe!
During this crisis, many families are facing the awesome task of homeschooling for the first time. They are going to discover that homeschooling is possible with their children, that it is not as hard as they may have thought, and that is definitely safer in many reasons than public schools.
Many children have had personal negative experiences in public schools that lead to studying at home… bullying, inadequate educational resources for their needs, schedules that do not allow for their sports and creative pursuits, attendance requirements that they can’t meet because of illnesses and many other rules and regulations. Now in this moment with corona virus, we all have the same reason … a pandemic illness.
We are getting calls from families who are now interested in schooling at home. While we cannot accept students for a short enrollment of two weeks or even two months, we are spending time with the families reassuring them that homeschooling is doable, that it’s a great idea for dealing with the school closures, and that it is not going to ruin their children. You may find that families in your area will turn to you for help and suggestions during this time. Please be available by phone or text to help them. We may find that these families return to TOPS for homeschooling after the crisis has passed.
Again, know that we are thinking and praying for all of you.
