APRIL – CELEBRATING EASTER, SPRING TIME, NEW GROWTH
A very happy springtime to you all. Here at TOPS spring is always about new beginnings and hope and joy. I pray it is the same in your household. As we move well into the third term of the school year, please take the time to go outside and look at the newness of life around you and renew your own spiritual strength and refresh your commitment to educating at home.
It has been exciting to see the incredible growth of homeschooling this year, both in our school and throughout the U.S. We are encouraged to know that more people are raising their children in the truth of God’s Word and we are privileged to be part of your family’s homeschooling adventure.

PARENT – STUDENT SURVEY
Every two years, TOPS prepares a survey as an opportunity for you to express your opinions about our service to you and your students. We actively search for ways to improve learning activities, curriculum choices, counseling services, teacher interaction, website information, and other ways of serving and communicating with our families.
The survey is open to all parents. Students in grade 8-12 are also invited to take the survey.

MEASURE OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS -MAP ASSESSMENT
Registration for the MAP testing is underway and the response has been fast and furious! We had to add more openings. So, please get your student signed up soon!
The test will be given on these dates:
- Week 1 – April 30. May 1, May 2
- Week 2 – May 7, May 8, May 9
- Week 3 – May 14, May 15, May 16.

There are three sections to the test: Math, Language Arts, and Reading. You may choose up to three days for each student.
All students from grades 3-12 must take the annual MAP test … with these two exceptions:
- High school students who have already taken ACT or SAT tests and have provided their scores to the school office.
- Students who are on the autism scale and have their evaluations on file with TOPS.
Students who have an IEP on file should take the test also because the MAP is designed to give every student opportunity to test on their own level with appropriate accommodations:
- It is not a timed test.
- The test is intuitive – the student sets the pace and the test presents questions according to the previous answers.
- The student may take one section each day – up to three days.
International students are not required to take the MAP test as it is an exam which is normed against USA students.
